Thaipusam

Recently, it was the Hindu festival of Thaipusam.

"The festival commemorates both the birthday of Lord Murugan (also Subramaniam), the youngest son of Shiva and Parvati, and the occasion when Parvati gave Murugan a vel (lance) so he could vanquish the evil demon Soorapadam."

Even though I grew up in Malaysia, I've never attended any of the celebrations. So TV Smith & Lu Sean's coverage of this year's event in KL/Batu Caves was an excellent way of seeing what I missed out on. Do check out the pix :-)

btw - happy b-day rik.

  1. It's funny that so many of Malaysians never been to Batu Cave to celebrate Thaipusam..

I can't recall any non-Hindu friends that actually joined in the celebrations..
